Forging is a very well-known, important manufacturing process. It has been an important process since ages and known to be one of the foremost manufacturing process in the history of mankind.
Here a metal is pounded, pressed, or squeezed under very high pressure. The pressure put on the metal helps in its deformation into very high strength parts known as forgings.
The process is carried out at very various temperatures, depending on the properties, use and design of the parts being manufactured.
To understand it better, we must compare forging with casting. As commonly known, in casting a metal is melted and then poured in dies to get desired shape. But here in forging, metal is never melted. It may be forged at warm, cold or red hot condition but not melted.
